The Your Voice Ohio Media Project was designed to increase interaction between communities and journalists, giving each the opportunity to speak with one another, discuss current events & future aspirations, and explore remedies to local issues. What’s Your Future, Ashland? will be hosted on Monday, January 27th from 6-8pm at the Ashland YMCA. What’s Your Future, Mansfield? will be hosted on Tuesday, January 28th from 6-8pm here at Idea+Works.
In 2016, the Jefferson Center in St. Paul, MN conducted a survey among Ohioans, exploring opinions on representation. The results of the survey discovered Ohioans feel they have no representation in local news, and specifically political news. Partnering with Ohio media outlets, the Jefferson Center launched Your Voice Ohio. Jefferson Center staff work closely with Ohio journalists and local organizers to create and manage community events and digital outreach. The Your Voice Ohio collaborative allows Ohioans to have open discussions with journalists about the issues that matter most to them, and how to find solutions to problems plaguing communities.
What’s Your Future, Mansfield? and What’s Your Future, Ashland? are sponsored by Richland Source & Ashland Source. Both events are free and open to the public, but registration is requested due to refreshments being served. People don’t need to be from Mansfield or Ashland specifically in order to participate; the dialogue is open to everyone in the region.
